Below the vignette, a text panel in Gothic script states the redemption terms and validity date, flanked by the large denomination numeral '20' on each side above the inscription 'Heller'. One of hundreds of Austrian Notgeld issues from the early 1920s, this 20 Heller piece from the lakeside resort town of St. Wolfgang is notable primarily as a local printing: Kiesel's Salzburg press handled a number of Salzkammergut municipal issues during this period, giving the regional series a degree of visual and material consistency unusual among emergency coinage substitutes.
Reisenbichler's involvement places this among the more deliberately designed examples — St. Wolfgang attracted artists and was already a recognized tourist destination before the currency collapse made small-denomination paper a necessity.
