| Beschrijving voorzijde | Printed in green on white paper, the obverse is laid out in the Jugendstil-influenced Notgeld style typical of the Austrian emergency currency period. At left, an oval vignette contains a figure of Saint Nicholas in episcopal vestments seated on a stylized throne, flanked by the denomination numeral '20' at upper left and repeated twice at lower left within decorative scrollwork. The right portion bears the text of the voucher obligation in Gothic script within an ornate ruled border, with three manuscript signatures below the printed signature titles for the Gemeinde-Rat and Bürgermeister. |

| Opmerkingen |
Sankt Nikola an der Donau is a small Danube-side market town in Upper Austria, and this 20 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept Austrian municipalities after the First World War left the new republic chronically short of small-denomination coinage. Carl Queiser was a local Amstetten printer with no particular profile in the wider notgeld market — the engraver credit to H. Künder is uncommon enough that it suggests at least some effort at a presentable design, unusual for a town this size.
1920 is a late date for Austrian municipal notgeld; many communities had already begun withdrawing theirs by then.
