Obverse description Pink-toned notgeld on plain paper, with the title inscription in Gothic blackletter at the top reading 'Gutschein der Gemeinden St. Martin u. Karlsbach'. A central oval vignette presents a panoramic view of the town with a church tower set against a rocky hillside and river. The denomination '20 Heller' appears in large red lettering flanking the vignette on both sides, with four circular '20' medallions at the corners; below the vignette, the validity date 'Giltig bis 31. Dez 1920' and the facsimile signatures of the two burgomasters are printed, with the printer's imprint 'C. Queiser Amstetten' at lower right.

Reverse description Pink-toned reverse on plain paper, with a Gothic blackletter heading 'Die Gemeinden St. Martin a. Y. und Karlsbach' across the top, followed by a legal text in two columns authorizing the issue as Notgeld based on council resolutions of 30 May 1920 and pledging the municipalities' entire assets as redemption guarantee. The central vignette, set within an octagonal geometric border, shows the ruins of a medieval castle or fortification. Two diamond-shaped '20' medallions flank the lower portion, above the large red denomination inscription 'Zwanzig Heller'; the anti-counterfeiting warning 'NACHAHMUNG WIRD BESTRAFT' is printed along the border of the central vignette.
