Radstadt is a small market town in the Salzburg region of Austria, and like hundreds of similarly modest municipalities, it resorted to printing its own emergency paper during the acute coin shortage that gripped Austria following World War I. These Heller-denomination Notgeld issues filled a gap that the central monetary authorities simply couldn't — or wouldn't — address fast enough at the local level.
The JPR reference places this within the Jaksch-Pick Austrian Notgeld cataloguing system. The ".2" suffix indicates a second variety within the 20 Heller denomination, distinguished from the first by some detail of printing, color, or text — the specifics vary by locality and are worth verifying against the Jaksch plates directly.
