A Notgeld issue from the small Lower Austrian market town of Pöggstall, printed locally by Giesler rather than farmed out to one of the larger Viennese printers who handled most municipal emergency currency of the period. The six signatures — an unusually high number for a denomination this small — reflect the commune's committee structure and were almost certainly applied by rubber stamp or pre-printed facsimile rather than individually signed by hand.
By 1920 Austrian Notgeld had shifted from genuine necessity toward collector-driven production, but a locally-printed 20 Heller from a rural Lower Austrian Gemeinde was almost certainly utilitarian rather than speculative.
