At upper centre, an elaborate baroque cartouche bearing the town arms flanked by two putti serves as the central vignette, with the denomination numerals '20' at each upper corner and the legend 'Zwanzig Heller' across the top. Persenbeug is a small market town on the Danube in Lower Austria, and its 1920 Heller notgeld issues belong to the vast wave of Austrian municipal emergency money produced after the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system left local governments without adequate small change.
