| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features the large numeral '20' prominently displayed in the center of the field, flanked on either side by symmetrical oak branches bearing acorns and lobed leaves, tied at the base to form an open wreath. The date '1918' appears in the exergue below the wreath, rendered in upright numerals. The entire design is enclosed within a fine beaded border, with no additional legend. The overall composition is clean and typographically bold, consistent with wartime Austrian emergency coinage design conventions. |

Gammametal — an alloy developed as a wartime substitute when copper, nickel, and zinc were being consumed by the Austrian military — was tested for coinage suitability in 1917 and 1918 as the empire's metal supply collapsed under the strain of four years of war. These pattern pieces were struck to evaluate the alloy's performance under press dies, not for circulation. The regular 20 Heller ultimately appeared in iron.
