| 备注 |
Meggenhofen is a small Upper Austrian village — population well under a thousand even today — and this 20 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld emergency, when the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monetary system during and after the First World War left local communities scrambling to produce their own small-denomination scrip. Hundreds of Austrian municipalities did the same between roughly 1914 and 1922, many commissioning artistically elaborate issues, others producing rudimentary hand-stamped slips like this one.
The single signature, Hattinger, almost certainly represents the Bürgermeister or a designated municipal cashier authorizing the note on behalf of the commune.
