| 表面の説明 | Notgeld voucher (Gutschein) printed in dark brown on cream paper, with a decorative foliate and scrollwork border enclosing the entire design. The denomination numeral '20' appears in the upper left and upper right corners, with the word 'Heller' centered between them in Gothic blackletter script. Below, the large title word 'Gutschein' is set in ornate blackletter, flanked by decorative flourishes, followed by the issuing authority text 'der Gemeinde Lichtenegg bei Wels.' A liability clause in Gothic script occupies the central field, and the mayor's printed signature 'Der Bürgermeister: L. Obermair' appears below. A counterfeiting warning legend runs along the lower margin above the bottom border. |

Lichtenegg bei Wels is a small rural commune in Upper Austria, and this 20 Heller note is a product of the acute small-change shortage that paralyzed Austrian daily commerce after the First World War. With the imperial coinage system in collapse and the new republican government unable to supply sufficient fractional currency fast enough, hundreds of municipalities — many of them tiny — printed their own Notgeld to keep local trade moving. Lichtenegg was one of the smaller issuers in the region.
Bürgermeister L. Obermair's signature carries the full municipal liability for redemption — a real obligation in 1920, however modest the sum.
