Igls is a small alpine village above Innsbruck that functioned as a spa and sanatorium resort — the issuer here is the resort municipality (Kurgemeinde), not a bank or civic treasury. In the chaotic small-change shortage that gripped Austria after World War One, hundreds of such local bodies printed their own Notgeld, and the Wagner press in Innsbruck handled a number of these Tyrolean issues during 1920.

The dual signatures of Kasun and Maurer reflect the Kurgemeinde's administrative structure, requiring countersignature to validate each note. A minor issue from a minor place — but the Wagner imprint gives it better production quality than many comparable rural Austrian pieces of the period.
