| Opmerkingen |
Hallwang is a small municipality just north of Salzburg, and this note belongs to the vast wave of Austrian Notgeld issued between 1919 and 1921 when the post-imperial coinage supply collapsed entirely. Small communities were legally authorized to issue their own emergency fractional currency, and thousands did. E. u. K. Müller of Salzburg handled printing for numerous Salzburg-region municipalities during this period, making attribution straightforward for the series.
Four signatories — the Bürgermeister and three Gemeinderäte — were required to validate each denomination, a formality that did little to inspire public confidence but satisfied the bureaucratic requirements of the time.
