20 Heller Götzendorf

Austrian Notgeld from the post-WWI economic breakdown, when the collapse of the Habsburg currency system forced municipalities down to the Marktgemeinde level to print their own emergency fractional notes. Götzendorf an der Leitha is a small market town in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of similar communities it issued Heller denominations in 1920–21 to cover the shortage of small change that the central authorities could no longer supply.

The Jaksch reference places this in a well-documented but enormous corpus. Condition matters more than usual here — small paper Notgeld deteriorates badly at folds, and the 20 Heller denomination saw heavier everyday use than the higher values.
