Reverse description The reverse is printed in red-orange on a pale ground with diagonal green band guilloche underprint running across the centre of the field. A ruled rectangular border frames the text area, with a header panel reading 'Gutschein der Gemeinde Gaming' and the denomination '20 Heller.' below. The main text block sets out the redemption conditions in German Gothic script, with a municipal coat-of-arms shield bearing the letter 'G' overprinted at centre; three manuscript signature lines are arranged below, attributed to the Bürgermeister and two Vizebürgermeister, with the edition designation 'II. Auflage.' printed at the foot.

Comments

Gaming is a small market town in Lower Austria, better known today for its Carthusian monastery than for its wartime scrip. This 20 Heller note is part of the Austrian Notgeld wave — the municipal emergency currency issued across thousands of towns between roughly 1919 and 1922 to address the chronic small-change shortage that followed the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system. The designer credit to Perko is locally specific; this is not a stock design farmed out by a central printer but something commissioned at the municipal level.

The JPR0220b designation suggests at least one variant exists within the series — likely a color or paper difference.
