Fuschl am See is a small lakeside village in Salzburg province, and its 1920 emergency notes belong to the vast wave of Austrian Notgeld produced after World War I, when coin shortages made small-denomination municipal scrip a practical necessity. The J.J. Kral printing house in Vienna handled a significant portion of this provincial Notgeld output, supplying dozens of municipalities with locally flavored but centrally produced notes.
The Jaksch/Pick reference JPR0215e identifies this as one of several denominations issued by Fuschl, the 20 Heller being the workhorse of daily small transactions at the time.
