| 表面の説明 | Printed on pink guilloche underprint, the obverse centres on a panoramic landscape vignette in fine line-art style showing Furth bei Göttweig with the hilltop Göttweig Abbey dominating the skyline and a church spire rising from the foreground townscape. Denomination panels to the left and right bear the bold numeral '20' above the legend 'Heller', while the issuing authority's name and guarantee clause are rendered in Gothic blackletter script flanking the central vignette. Small inset vignettes of a church portal with cross occupy each lower corner, and below the landscape the date 'Furth, 20. Mai 1920' appears alongside three manuscript signatures of the Bürgermeister, Vize-Bürgermeister, and two Gemeinderäte. |

Furth bei Göttweig is a small market town in Lower Austria, and this note is a product of the postwar Notgeld wave that saw hundreds of Austrian municipalities issue their own emergency small change between 1919 and 1921. The federal government simply could not produce enough low-denomination coinage to meet demand after the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system, and local authorities filled the gap themselves.
Otto Stoitzner was a Viennese painter and graphic artist with genuine credentials — his involvement in designing Notgeld for a provincial printer like Josef Faber in Krems is a small but telling sign of how broadly the Notgeld movement drew on professional artistic talent, even for issues of negligible face value.
