| Reverse description | Printed in violet-blue on cream paper to match the obverse, the reverse carries the full text of the municipal authorisation within a border of ivy-leaf vine tendrils running along all four sides. The body text, set in calligraphic Gothic script, records the council resolution of 17 May 1920, states the total issue of 30,000 Kronen, and advises redemption in legal tender at the Gemeindekasse until 31 December 1920, with a counterfeiting warning at lower left and the Bürgermeister's manuscript signature at lower right. |

Austrian municipal notgeld of this type was born entirely out of coin shortages that followed the collapse of the Habsburg economy — small-denomination metal coinage had essentially vanished from circulation by 1919, hoarded or melted, and hundreds of rural municipalities were left to solve the problem themselves. Eggendorf's solution, like most, was a locally authorized paper chit backed by nothing more than community trust and the expectation of eventual redemption.
L. Haase in Linz was a workhorse printer for Upper Austrian notgeld issues, handling dozens of municipal commissions during this period. The JPR0165d designation suggests this 20 Heller is one of several denominations or variants within the Eggendorf series.
