Biedermannsdorf is a small village south of Vienna, and its decision to issue notgeld in 1920 reflects just how completely the postwar Austrian monetary system had failed to supply adequate small change. The municipality turned to J. Wehhofer in nearby Mödling — a practical choice of proximity over prestige, and one shared by several Lower Austrian communities that year.
The JPR0087a series exists in multiple denominations. Survival rates for village-level Austrian notgeld vary wildly; smaller municipalities often printed in lower runs, and many pieces were redeemed promptly once the federal supply stabilized.
