| Obverse description | Polychrome notgeld vignette executed in a folk-art woodcut manner, centred on the quartered municipal coat of arms of Aschach an der Donau — incorporating grapevine motifs and dated 1572 — borne aloft on a pole by two period figures: a journeyman traveller in a blue coat at left and a vintner in a red shirt at right, set against a riverside landscape with rolling hills. Denomination panels inscribed '20 Heller' occupy all four corners and appear again on a stone cartouche positioned below the shield. The lower border carries the issuer legend in Gothic letterpress type, with the artist attributions 'Eduard Kling' at lower left and 'Franz Hirnmann' at lower right. |
