Below a decorative floral scroll vignette at lower left, a six-line dialect poem in praise of the local region is set in Fraktur type. The printer's imprint 'Jof. Austrian municipal emergency currency — Notgeld — flooded the country after the First World War as chronic coin shortages made small-denomination transactions nearly impossible. Aichkirchen, a village in Upper Austria, was among hundreds of communities that commissioned their own issues rather than wait for a central solution that was slow to materialize. Jof. Feichtingers Erben was a Linz printing house that handled a substantial share of Upper Austrian municipal Notgeld during this period, producing runs for numerous small communities across the region.
The single signature, Kettlgruber, almost certainly represents the sitting Bürgermeister at time of issue.
