Palting-Perwang is a small agricultural parish in the Innviertel district, and this note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept Austrian municipalities after the collapse of the Habsburg economy left the new republic chronically short of small-denomination coinage. Jos. Moser's print shop in nearby Braunau am Inn handled emergency currency for several local communities in this period — a practical arrangement when Vienna's mints couldn't keep up with demand and villages needed something their residents would actually accept at the bakery.
Bürgermeister Voggenberger's signature gives the note its legal standing under municipal authority.
