This issue belongs to the first wave of coinage produced after Czechoslovakia's February 1948 coup consolidated Communist Party control. The aluminium composition was no accident — postwar metal shortages and Soviet-aligned industrial priorities pushed several Eastern Bloc states toward lightweight alloys for minor denominations during exactly this period.
The two-year run ended abruptly ahead of the 1953 monetary reform, which wiped out savings and recalled currency at punishing exchange rates.
