Additional information

Issued in the immediate postwar years as Czechoslovakia rebuilt its monetary system following Nazi occupation, this small brass piece circulated through one of the most politically volatile periods in the country's modern history. The Communist coup of February 1948 fell squarely within this coin's production run, yet the design continued unchanged — a quiet reminder of how slowly coinage reacts to political rupture.

The series was rendered obsolete by the 1953 monetary reform, which wiped out savings and redenominated the currency at punishing rates for ordinary citizens.
