Obverse description Laureate bust of Jérôme Napoleon Bonaparte facing left, the hair rendered in tight curls with an olive or laurel wreath tied at the nape with a ribbon, the trailing ends falling onto the truncation. The portrait is rendered in the neoclassical style characteristic of the Napoleonic era. The circular legend reads HIERONYMUS NAPOLEON around the upper periphery, and the engraver's signature TIOLIER appears in small capitals at the base of the truncation. The entire design is framed by a fine beaded border.

WESTPH. FR. PR. curves around the upper periphery, with the date 1808 displayed in the lower exergual area below the wreath. The mint mark J appears to the lower right, and a small horse passant device is visible to the lower left within the wreath. The design is framed by a beaded border.
