| Reverse description | Draped bust of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg facing right, bearded, wearing his distinctive crested helmet surmounted by a goat's head finial — his celebrated heraldic emblem. The portrait is modelled in high relief with fine sculptural detail, conveying a strong, naturalistic character. The legend G·KASTRIOTI·SKANDERBEGU arcs around the upper and right fields. The engraver's signature G. ROMAGNOLI / A. MOTTI INC. appears in small lettering in the lower field. |

Albania's 1926 coinage program was part of a broader effort to establish a functioning monetary system following the country's recognition as an independent state after World War I and the turbulent years of the early republic under Fan Noli and then Ahmet Zogu. The "Prova" designation marks this as a pattern or trial piece — produced for official review rather than general circulation, almost certainly struck at the Rome Mint, which handled Albania's coinage during this period under agreements tied to Italian political influence in the region.
Surviving examples are exceptionally rare by nature of their purpose. Patterns from this series were struck in extremely limited numbers and distributed among officials and monetary authorities, not the public.
