Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Marianne, the allegorical personification of the French Republic, depicted wearing a Phrygian cap with flowing hair. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE runs along the rim, with the mint year appearing in the lower exergue flanked by two dots. The engraver's signature R. JOLY appears discreetly in the right field behind the bust. The design is executed in a clean, modernist relief characteristic of mid-twentieth-century French coinage.

Reverse description Central composition featuring a stylised arrangement of local Polynesian agricultural produce: a tiare flower in bloom at the upper centre, vanilla shoots with hanging pods to the right, and a breadfruit with its distinctive textured sphere and broad lobed leaves filling the lower field. The denomination 20 F appears prominently to the left of the central motif, flanked by two small pellets serving as separators. The legend POLYNESIE FRANÇAISE is distributed along the upper and lower rim respectively, with the engraver's initial G. visible at the base of the design.
