Additional information

Swissmint produces trial strikes — Probeprägungen — as internal test pieces before authorizing a final issue, and not all trials reach circulation or even public sale. Whether this piece was struck to test die alignment, planchet feed, or edge treatment is unrecorded in the public domain. The Red Cross connection is straightforward: Switzerland is home to the ICRC, founded in Geneva in 1863, and the organization's emblem is a direct inversion of the Swiss flag — a deliberate choice by Henry Dunant.
