The Democratic Republic of the Congo has issued silver wildlife coins under various licensing arrangements since the early 2000s, with the actual minting contracted out to European facilities — this piece almost certainly never came within thousands of miles of Kinshasa. These programs are designed entirely for the collector market and have no circulation function whatsoever in the issuing country.
*Puma concolor* holds the distinction of having the greatest natural range of any wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere, extending from the Canadian Yukon to the southern Andes.
