Obverse description Laureate head of Napoleon I facing left, wearing a classical laurel wreath tied at the nape with a ribbon, hair rendered in fine detail with short curls framing the face. The effigy is in high relief, executed in a refined Neoclassical style engraved by Jean-Pierre Droz. The legend NAPOLEON EMPEREUR. runs along the outer periphery, with a fine beaded border encircling the entire obverse. The engraver's signature DROZ appears discreetly at the truncation of the neck.
