| Obverse description | Central field features an ornate stylized tughra or calligraphic emblem of Muhammad VIII al-Amin, enclosed within a crescent open to the right. The Arabic legend المملكة التونسية (Kingdom of Tunisia) arcs across the upper field, flanked left and right. The dual dates 1370 - 1950 (Hijri and Gregorian) appear below the central device, and the denomination عشرون فرنكا (Twenty Francs) is inscribed in large Arabic script along the lower arc. The word ESSAI appears in Latin characters to the left of the crescent, identifying this as a pattern strike. |
