The Dunkleosteus was an apex predator of the Late Devonian, roughly 360–380 million years ago, and among the largest jawed fish ever to exist — estimated at up to 6 meters in length with a bite force exceeding that of most dinosaurs. It had no teeth in the conventional sense, just self-sharpening bony blades that grew continuously from its jaw plates. The DRC has issued this piece under its long-running natural history bullion programme, which finances itself almost entirely through European and Asian collector markets rather than domestic circulation.
