Obverse description Central intaglio vignette of French composer Claude Debussy (1862–1918), rendered after the portrait painted by Marcel Baschet at the Villa Medici in Rome in 1884, now held at the Musée d'Orsay. The background carries a marine underprint inspired by motifs from Debussy's orchestral work "La Mer". The legends "BANQUE DE FRANCE" and "VINGT FRANCS" appear alongside the numeral "20" and the composer's name.
