Reverse description Dynamic equestrian figure of John the Blind, King of Bohemia and Count of Luxembourg, shown in full armour galloping to the right with sword raised aloft. A banner or ribbon inscribed SERVIAM (I shall serve) flows from the rider's body. The composition is bold and dramatically sculptural, attributed to engraver Julien Bonnetain whose name appears in the lower field. The commemorative dates 26-VIII- and 1346-1946 are inscribed in the exergue, marking the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Crécy and John's death. The legend JANG DE BLANNEN (John the Blind) runs around the upper and lateral periphery.
