| Obverse description | The obverse features an ornate arabesque interlace design framing a central raised circle containing the denomination and date. The legend TUNISIE arcs across the upper field within a decorative cartouche formed by intertwining foliate and geometric scroll work in the Moorish tradition. Within the inner circle, the denomination 20 FRANCS is displayed in two lines in bold relief, with the Gregorian date 1930 below. The word ESSAI appears in small capitals at the bottom of the inner circle, confirming the trial strike status. The entire design is bordered by a toothed outer rim. |
