Obverse description Central field bears the name and title of Ahmad Pasha Bey of Tunisia in Arabic script arranged in three lines, enclosed within a decorative geometric interlaced border of Islamic style. Flanking the inscriptions are two olive branches in high relief, one to each side, their stems meeting at the base. The Hijri date 1358 appears in Arabic-Indic numerals at the bottom of the central cartouche, below the branches. The overall design reflects the Art Deco aesthetic applied to traditional Islamic decorative motifs, with no effigy of the ruler depicted.
