The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair, beard, and sideburns, in the classical academic style engraved by Josef Tautenhayn. The circular legend in Hungarian reads FERENCZ JÓZSEF I · K · A · CS · ÉS · M · H · S · D · O · AP · KIR · surrounding the bust, with the Kremnitz mint mark K·B· positioned in the lower exergue. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border.
