Reverse description A boldly rendered frontal head of a zebu, the sacred humped cattle emblematic of Madagascar, dominates the central field, its sweeping curved horns framing the denomination above. The numeral '20' and the word 'FRANCS' appear in large characters within the arc formed by the horns. Flanking the zebu head are two symmetrical sprigs of wheat and flowering plants in relief. Two small mint marks appear below the zebu's chin. The curved legend ARIARY EFATRA runs along the lower periphery in Latin script.
