| Obverse description | Central field bears four large Chinese ideograms arranged in a cruciform pattern reading top to bottom and right to left, flanked by Manchu script characters at centre. The entire arrangement is encircled by a peripheral legend of additional Chinese ideograms denoting the provincial authority, reign title, and weight standard. The inscription identifies the issuing province of Hunan, the Guangxu Emperor's reign era, and the denomination expressed in traditional weight units of 1 mace and 4.4 candareens. |
