| Opis rewersu | Faithful reproduction of the reverse of a Visigothic tremissis struck at the Toledo mint in the name of King Leovigildo. The central motif depicts a standing figure in the Byzantine imperial tradition, rendered in the highly stylized, schematic manner typical of Visigothic gold coinage. A cross pattée appears to the right of the figure. The surrounding legend, in degraded Latin characteristic of Visigothic epigraphy, references the Toledo mint. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, faithfully reproducing the aesthetic of 6th–7th century Iberian tremisses. |
