| Reverse description | The reverse presents a detailed scene of a Roman legionary cohort assembled before the gates of the Vindobona fortress. A senior officer or centurion, prominently positioned in the foreground and wearing a plumed helmet and muscled cuirass adorned with a gorgoneion, addresses the assembled troops. Legionary soldiers stand in formation at right, bearing large oval scuta decorated with eagle and lightning bolt motifs, their lances raised.
