Obverse description Central field features a finely detailed botanical composition depicting Erythronium dens-canis (dog's-tooth violet) flowers in full bloom alongside conifer branches and smaller flowering plants, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. A butterfly is depicted in flight above the floral arrangement. The Slovak coat of arms — a shield bearing a patriarchal cross rising from a triple-peaked mountain — appears in the upper right, accompanied by the date 2009. The engraver's initials 'RL' appear discreetly within the field. The legend SLOVENSKO arcs along the lower rim in bold raised lettering.

Additional information

Veľká Fatra, a mountain range in central Slovakia, was designated a national park in 2002 — one of the last major protected areas established in the country before Slovakia's EU accession in 2004. This coin was issued as part of Slovakia's ongoing silver commemorative series dedicated to its protected natural regions, a program that began shortly after independence and has grown to cover virtually every significant landscape under national or UNESCO protection.

The .925 fineness places it among the finer silver issues in the series.
