Aanvullende informatie

Cyprus joined UNESCO in 1961, and this issue belongs to a long-running Cypriot gold series highlighting the island's World Heritage Sites — a program that has produced some of the more carefully struck collector pieces from Nicosia's mint contracts. The 2021 release coincides with ongoing international attention to Cypriot heritage sites amid decades of political division, with several protected monuments located in the northern part of the island under Turkish administration since 1974, a jurisdictional tension that UNESCO has formally documented but never fully resolved.
