| 表面の説明 | The obverse features a dynamic, stylized figure in high relief, depicted in motion against a textured rocky landscape, evoking a salt carrier or allegorical personification associated with the historic salt trade. To the right, a decorative lattice or crystalline structure rendered in geometric lines alludes to salt crystals or a salt mine framework. The legend REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin characters, while the denomination 20 EURO and the date 2024 appear in the lower right field. A beaded inner border frames the entire composition, which is executed in a contemporary sculptural style characteristic of the Austrian Mint's modern commemorative series. |

Austria's salt trade shaped the Alpine economy for centuries, with Hallstatt and Hallein functioning as extraction centers so economically dominant that the Celtic word for salt — hal — became embedded in the region's place names. The Habsburg administration later monopolized the trade, using salt revenues to finance wars and court expenditure well into the nineteenth century.
This is the eleventh issue in the Austrian Mint's "Magic of Gold and Silver" series, which rotates through commodities central to Austrian and Central European economic history.
