Part of the German Federal collector series honoring Brothers Grimm fairy tales, this issue follows a long run of silver 20-euro pieces that began with "Hänsel und Gretel" in 2014. The Rumpelstilzchen story itself predates the Grimm collection — variants appear across European folklore well before Jacob and Wilhelm codified their 1812 edition. The Hamburgische Münze, one of five active German state mints, struck this under its "J" mint mark.
Collector demand for the fairy tale series has been consistently strong enough that secondary market premiums routinely outpace face value within months of release.
