Issued as part of Spain's long-running "Joyas Numismáticas" collector series, this piece revisits the peseta denomination nearly two decades after Spain's adoption of the euro rendered it obsolete in 2002. The series deliberately invokes the coinage of Juan Carlos I's reign — which spanned the peseta's final decades and the political transition from Francoism to constitutional monarchy — as a collector exercise rather than any circulating currency.
