Lithuania sent 69 athletes to the Tokyo Games, delayed a full year by the COVID-19 pandemic and held in July–August 2021 without spectators. The Lithuanian Mint issued this piece in that same window, making it one of the few Olympic commemoratives struck while the games were actually in progress rather than years before or after.
