| Reverse description | A sculpted bust of Michael Collins (1890–1922), Irish revolutionary leader and statesman, is portrayed facing slightly left in high relief at the center of the field, rendered in a bold, modernist style with smooth facial planes. The legend MICHAEL COLLINS arcs along the lower left rim, while the birth and death years 1890 - 1922 curve along the upper portion of the field. The denomination 20 EURO is inscribed along the lower right rim. A small engraver's initial mark appears at the lower left of the truncation. |

| Additional information |
Issued to mark the 90th anniversary of Collins's death in August 1922, this tiny fractional gold piece was part of Ireland's broader commemorative program rather than any circulating issue. Collins was killed at Béal na Bláth during the Civil War — ambushed under circumstances still debated, with questions about who ordered the attack never fully resolved.
