Issued to mark the centenary of Lithuania's legal system following the restoration of statehood in 1918, this coin commemorates the establishment of courts and civil law infrastructure built almost from scratch after decades under Tsarist administration. The first Lithuanian legal code drew heavily on existing European models while deliberately excising Russian imperial statutes — a practical act of legislative nation-building compressed into a matter of months.
