The Year of Spain in China was a bilateral cultural initiative launched in 2007 under a framework agreement between the two governments, part of a broader push by Madrid to deepen economic ties with Beijing during a period of rapid Chinese market expansion. Spain issued several commemorative pieces for the occasion.
