| Reverse description | A stylised front-facing portrait bust of the German Romantic poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff occupies the central field, her hair braided and adorned with a wreath, with loose windswept strands framing her face, rendered in a contemporary artistic style. To the right of the portrait, a landscape with a low horizon line and a soaring seabird evokes the moorland scenery associated with the poetess. The circular legend 'ANETTE VON DROSTE - HÜLSHOFF' arcs along the upper border, while the inscription '225. GEBURTSTAG' runs along the lower left periphery, commemorating the 225th anniversary of her birth. |

| Additional information |
Droste-Hülshoff appeared on the old 20 Deutsche Mark note issued from 1979, so her move to a silver commemorative in 2022 continued a long tradition of German currency honoring her — unusual for a writer who spent much of her adult life in near-obscurity and died in 1848 with only a modest literary reputation. Serious critical recognition came decades posthumously.
The German mint rotates production of commemorative issues among the five federal mints; the specific striking facility is identified by the mint mark and affects collector interest marginally but measurably in this series.
