| 裏面の説明 | A richly composed high-relief portrait of Agatha Christie occupies the right half of the field, depicting her in mature likeness with curled hair, her right hand raised thoughtfully to her cheek and a pearl necklace visible at her throat. Surrounding her effigy is a detailed panoramic tableau of imagery evoking her literary world: an Egyptian pyramid and a Nile river steamer at lower centre, a steam locomotive at left, a Victorian mansion on a cliff with a gramophone, a pocket watch, and a dagger — all references to her celebrated mystery novels. The legend 'AGATHA CHRISTIE' curves along the right rim in a stylised script, with her birth and death dates '1890 – 1976' arching across the upper field and the issue year '2026' inscribed at the lower left. |

Issued as part of the Monnaie de Paris running series honoring figures of world literature, this piece marks the centenary of Christie's The Murder of Roger Ackroyd — the 1926 novel whose unreliable narrator caused a genuine scandal in British detective fiction circles and triggered a public debate about whether the twist constituted fair play. The Detection Club, founded four years later, would codify rules of fair-play mystery writing partly in response to exactly that controversy.
